08.04.08THE RIG - Feature ScriptI just finished a rewrite on THE RIG, which is one of my feature spec scripts. The logline is: "In an oil-starved near future, two mini-sub pilots are the last hope to prevent hostile capture of the world's largest undersea oil rig." I decided to throw it up here for download. 05.24.08VIGS, Vidfest, NSI PlayWRITE and lots of BlabberingWow, end of quite a busy week. I was fortunate enough to be asked to sit on the "Low-Fi Game Prototyping" panel at VIGS (Vancouver International Game Summit) this past Thursday. I enjoyed the experience and the chance to have a dialogue with Design Directors/Senior Designers from Relic, EA, and Threewave. The talk was well attended although we finished nearly a 1/2 hour early so that worries me that we were actually pretty boring. Or perhaps we covered all the material very efficiently! His credits include "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" (which put Robert Redford on the map), "All the President's Men", "The Princess Bride", "Marathon Man", and more. 08.02.07Speaking of THE RIG – Russians Claim Underside of North PoleWell, just yesterday I was speaking about how I believe THE RIG (one of my feature scripts) is pertinent to current events, even if it still has some futuristic elements. Then, the Russians claim the underside of the North Pole because of potential oil and gas reserves. I kid you not: I could go change about a dozen lines in my script right now and it would match what just happened. 08.01.07Scriptapalooza Quarterfinalist: “THE RIG”Yesterday, I was pleased to learn that my feature spec script, “THE RIG”, was chosen as one of the Scriptapalooza Quarterfinalists. Here's the logline: “In an oil-starved near future, two mini-sub pilots are the last hope to prevent hostile takeover of the world’s largest undersea petroleum production facility.” Of course, achieving Quarterfinalist status really is not that big of a deal—I have approximately 310 fellows in the category!
